confirmed to PEOPLE that his wife, Rachel Reichard gave birth to their son at 10:02 pm on Tuesday evening. The couple also shared a picture of their infant son's tiny feet along with an announcement to their fans.
Noting that he weighed in just over eight pounds, Sullivan called it one of the "great honours of his life" to have been by his wife's side during her twenty hours of labour and witness their son's birth.
The couple first shared news of Reichard's pregnancy back in January, and the gender reveal had their followers on social media giggling. After a doctors appointment, Sullivan first posted a sonogram image of their baby, and he asked in the caption that people swipe right for the reveal.
Hilariously, Sullivan shared various pictures of suspiciously shaped clouds and bananas and such things, but they had something a little more educational planned for the name reveal.
Accomplishing three things at once, Sullivan shared with PEOPLE that they hid the name in a puzzle they designed and sent out to their family members. Pleased with their creativity, Sullivan added:
"A fun way to announce his name and to keep us all connected during quarantine. It's both information and something to do."
The family loved the creative reveal, and since they set it up in to mimic a contest, the race was on to see who could decipher the name to their new family member first. Hoping that everyone would soon be able to get together in person, Sullivan added:
"Everyone is very excited to meet Bear, and hopefully in the next few months, we'll be able to introduce him to all of his friends and family."
Sullivan and Reichard married back in June 2010, and the couple had an exciting time preparing for the arrival of their first.
While Sullivan became best known for his role in "This Is Us," he also made a name for himself with "Guardian of the Galaxy: Vol 2" in 2017, and "The Knick" a few years before in 2014.

Meanwhile, life also changed substantially for another "This Is Us" star. Recently Justin Hartley's wife, Chrishell Stause filed for a divorce from the actor.
Amid divorce proceedings, Stause filed that her maiden name is restored, and during their last meeting it was granted. From now on, she will only be known again as Terrina Chrishell Stause.
