Growing up in Cedar City, Betty Jo attended Cedar High School and graduated in 1958. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education, and she earned an associate degree from the College of Southern Utah (SUU) in 1960. She furthered her studies at Utah State University, the University of Utah, and Weber State University, focusing on Education and Library Services.

Marriage and Family

On December 28, 1960, Betty Jo embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married her eternal sweetheart, Noal K. Cook, in the St. George Temple. Together, they built a beautiful life in West Point, Utah, where they raised their four sons: Christopher, Carter, Curtis, and Cyle. Betty Jo’s dedication to her family was unwavering, and her love and support were the foundation that nurtured their growth and happiness.

Professional Life and Retirement

Betty Jo’s professional life was marked by her meticulous nature, organizational skills, and sharp intellect. She served as the editor of her high school yearbook and even took on the role of editor for SUU’s yearbook during her time there. She dedicated herself to the field of education, working as a tutor at Doxey Elementary and later as the school librarian at West Point Elementary. These experiences brought immense joy and fulfillment to Betty Jo’s life.

Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marsha, and sons Christopher and Cyle. She is survived by her loving husband, Noal, and two children: Carter (Julia) and Curtis (Erica). Her legacy lives on through her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Betty Jo is also survived by her siblings: Christie Jensen, Lana (Bob) Fredrickson, Samuel (Debbie) Bauer, and Debra (Steve) Hardison. The bonds of family and the memories they shared will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

The funeral service to honor Betty Jo Bauer Cook’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, located at 869 South 2000 West in Syracuse, UT. Friends and loved ones are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be streamed live on the mortuary’s website. Betty Jo will be laid to rest at the West Point City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Betty Jo’s name to a local school, contributing to the education and growth of future generations.
